A new edition to the Volkswagen ID family of electric vehicles has been revealed, the ID.6 and it has been noted that the new EV is a longer, bigger version of the ID.4.

The ID.6 will be primarily targeted at Chinese customers. A document added to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) revealed images of the production vehicle and assorted specifications.

The styling details of the ID.6 are similar to the ID.4 model. VW’s ID.6 measures 4876 mm bumper to bumper, 92 mm longer than the ID.4. VW has not confirmed the exact cabin style of the ID.6.

Passenger comfort has been stretched to the wheelbase, which increases by a significant 198 mm from ID.4 to ID.6. With details of its extra length and wheelbase, it is assumed that the ID.6 will be a seven-seater vehicle, with third-row seating.

A large-capacity 82kWh lithium-ion battery pack was chosen to power the ID.6 150kW electric motor.

The ID.6 rolls on 20-inch alloy wheels, with a variety of tyre sizes, including a 235/55, which should give it very decent ride quality for a vehicle with such large wheels.

It would also appear that ID.6 is not a light vehicle, as one would expect from a battery-powered crossover its size. It weighs 2 280 kg, which makes it heavier than any current Volkswagen Touareg.
